Distance travelled : 518 kms
Sadly today we left Ljubljana after a wonderful two days. It was a flat walk today through fertile farmland with increasing temperatures. It was about 30 today but we had a cool breeze for most of the way.
Farewell to Hannah as she cycles off south.
Directions were clear out of the city as we passed the canal and down the highway.
Sunrise. We left at 6am aware that it may be a very hot day.
Deer gathering in the early morning light.
It wasn't long that we had left the city and were on farm and forest trails.
A hungry creature on our path. Yet to discover what it was. Snub-nosed, webbed-feet, tiny tail and oblivious to our attention.
Rest stop to remove stones and eat delicious spinach and cheese borek pastries.
Lots of chat along quiet shady paths.
Some questionable bridges, crawling under electric fences made the walk more exciting.
A restaurant was willing to open early for our morning coffee.
Some road walking through some busy little towns.
Another stop with a most accommodating barman, when he understood our orders. Sue decided that, despite another 10 kms to go, she'd have an early G&T.
Horses - a stud or are they for a local menu. We've seen horse on a few a la carte.
Mark was showing his red rag to a bull trick - cows not interested.
Along a minor road a woman stopped her car and asked where we are from etc,and gave us a punnet of freshly picked blueberries.
Our accommodation is in a lovely hotel with 2 rooms set aside as a hostel.
Our room with enormous bunks.
Across the car park is Tehniski Muzej Slovenje. The largest museum in Slovenia which houses Tito's car collection and interesting technology.
It also has many wooden water wheels. We cooled our feet in the stream within the complex.
The buildings were originally a monastery.
Dinner at the Bistra Hotel. Fabulous accommodation. Prune dumplings a specialty.
