AUGUST 2015 : EASTERN EUROPE : European Peace Walk : Day 3 : Rajka - Albertazmerputzta ( 26 kms - 9 hours (stops and lost)

Distance travelled so far : 48 kms

Early morning. Ready for breakfast at 6.30am after a fabulous sleep.

            Adam saw us off.

Long stretches along corn fields, golden hay.

Meticulously following the red arrows ..or,so we thought..

             Golden hay stored high..

                Sunflowers...

After 13 kms a welcome stop at a cafe in Nickelsdorf.

Ros greeting school children en route to the playground.

The route led us through the path of the wind turbines.

Lost and despondent, we sheltered under a wind turbine asking a technician for help.

We decide to follow the road. The 38 degree heat continues and we are desperate.

Lots of hares and small deer darting out of the fields.

Lost, we discovered a farmhouse and asked for water. They agreed and ask us to be quiet as
the owner was recording the mating call of the nightingale on his cello. We listen, Ros and
Thelma fall asleep. Later we checked out the recording project on YouTube. A bizarre experience.

We continue on the road, Ros with blisters, Mark affected by heat, confident we would arrive
at our destination in about an hour.

Our excellent accomodation tonight with Georgy and Elizabeth.

Mattresses on the floor. 10 euros. Everyone here early, finding all the way markers.

              Georgy our embullent host.

Delicious meal provided. Catch up of today's adventures.

You guys are amazing. I really admire your stamina! I don't think I could walk that far in that heat. I guess all of the scenery and the wonderful people you meet along the way make it worth it. Keep hydrated!!
