Breakfast at our farmstay with a friendly Danish family. The mother had done her final thesis in Pharmacy in Adelaide 2001.
We caught the local bus just outside the B&B to Stege back to our starting point. It was raining and we had all day to further explore Stege.
We did the Møn museum audio tour, which was fascinating. In fact, there were not many artefacts in the museum but the audio was captivating, telling Stege’s story from pre-historic to modern times.
In another section of the museum there was an exhibition of modern jewellery.
Mons Klint painting, Stege and Møn posters
And the rain continued. Tourists and locals were undeterred, being totally prepared with suitable rain gear.
Møn has several boutique breweries. We had lunch at one today. Baughus.
Herring, their specialty. In the Middle Ages Møn was the herring capital. They traded salted herring. It was said that herring was so prolific in the area that you could put a paddle in the sea and it would stand upright. Not so now, the main industry is pork, with huge piggeries throughout the island.
The ancient and modern displayed around the town
We found some decent wifi at a bar/cafe with a very friendly atmosphere
Dinner at Santa Maria. Pizza and pasta.
Tomorrow we head to Køge.
