A beautiful clear day of 30oC. We explored the central part of the city of Ottawa.
Mark went out early with Piers to walk Benson and caught the dawn light
At about 8.30 we set off through the daily markets, so convenient for fresh produce
At 9 we came across the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
Across the road from the war memorial, there was a military changeover in the grounds of Parliament House
From here, we decided to walk down Banks Street towards the canal. We passed the Confederation Building, another building created in a grand Gothic style from the 1920s.
Lots of positive support for Gay Pride
Cannabis is legal in some Canadian provinces
Some traditional houses in the Glebe, a trendy suburb near the canal
Squirrels
Returning to the city via the canal
The Art Gallery near Notre Dame cathedral
First Nation’s exhibits
After lunch we took an hour tour on an an amphibious bus. Part of the tour was in the Ottawa River.
After work drinks in a summer bar in Major’s Park, near the apartment, before returning for dinner.
