Today we continued on the Greenway to Mulranny - 22 kms - 6 hours with stops
Leaving Phil outside her Blue Bike Cafe and a wonderful night of hospitality
We stopped by the local church to view the beautiful stained glass windows, designed by Harry Clark in 1930
We started on the bike path with the throngs of family cyclists and after a few kilometres took a higher track which gave us spectacular views of Clew Bay. We passed flocks of sheep, farmers peat harvesting, fast flowing rivers and streams
Lunch overlooking Clew Bay
Constant reminders of bygone railway days
Wildflowers, insect-eating bog plants and emerald green scenes all day
Today it was all about sheep. The first picture is of a sheep in Mulranny chasing a family and their dog, who retreated quickly to their car. So many different varieties.
Tonight we are staying in a B&B in Mulranny, owned by another of John’s many cousins
John, Maugie and I had a dip - between the flags of course. The lifeguards safely in their hut out of the wind. Water temperature about 16oC. Very refreshing.
Dinner tonight was at a renovated railway hotel. Popular with families with basic pub menu
I could fill each blog with the magnificent flower arrangements on each house, shop, lamp post. They are amazing and a delight.
Tomorrow we are doing a shorter walk further west along the Greenway.

Love the flowers, butterflies & animals punctuating the history & scenery. Your new look this trip with multiple photos makes it all the more impressive. Looks like the Irish weather is being kind to you too. Fingers crossed.....JulieJ
