AUGUST 2016 : SPAIN : CAMINO FINISTERRE : DAY 6 : Lires - Muxia - 15 kms - 4 hours

DIstance walked : 120 kms

Another lovely walk on paths and minor roads with a special reward at our destination. The only downside was that Mark was in too much discomfit to walk the whole way so we summoned a taxi en route.

Breakfast at the Eiras bar.. and only 15 kms to Muxia.

Early morning sunrise

At the tiny hamlet of Guisemonde we found a taxi number and just enough reception to call. José arrived in about 10 mins to transport Mark.

Meanwhile along the path, a pop-up Camino cafe and souvenir stop.

Only a few villages - no opportunities for food.

Then suddenly I was at the coast.

A beautiful beach at the entry to the town.

Not a particularly appealing entry. I was a little disappointed.

Not for long...as I entered the back streets there was music and commotion.

...a two day festival...

Savoury pastries - empanadas

Pulpo

Plecebes ...delicious

Demonstrations of old crafts

Local bands

Dressed in elaborate costumes

Young and old

School groups

Dancing..

Blast from the past - postman

Eccentric characters

Street theatre - the Ratstaurante crew.

Saucy wenches selling some kind of moonshine

 Celtic trio

Dragons and pirates

Meeting up with friends. Louie walked the Primitivo with us. He's a Science teacher from Yorkshire.

Modern, clean, central hostel. 12 euros a night.

We have a large locker and each bunk has a light and plugs for recharging phones and iPads. Large kitchen, clean bathrooms and large laundry area.

Mark is feeling more mobile and is looking forward to more rest in the next few days. Meanwhile another day of festivities tomorrow.
