AUGUST 2016 : SPAIN : CAMINO PRIMITIVO : DAY 10 : Ferreira - Melide - 20.6 kms - 5 1/2 hours

Distance walked so far : 204.6 kms

The last day of our Camino PRIMITIVO as it joins the Camino Frances,  which we have walked several times before. Really pleasant walk today with friends in such mild conditions. Every day we have enjoyed such scenic views.

Solid night's sleep, despite a full dormitory.

                                                             Attractive prints adorned the walls.

             Early breakfast.

He is risen! Mark walked the first 5kms to a larger town to catch a taxi to Melide.

Who should come walking up the path but Siobhan and Sarah. Great company for the day.

          Interesting artefacts in gardens.

           A local shrine.

                                       Another brightly decorated beetle.

A badger - who has seen better days.

A little cafe in As Seixas, where I could use my practised phrases - Mi esposo está enfermo. Puede llamar un taxi pronto. (My husband is not well. Can you call a taxi as soon as possible.)

         Some typical Galician ceramics.

           Leaving As Seixas...

A gay pride waymarker? No, just decorated by a local artist.

A quirky artesan's house with leather jewellery for sale...and we suspect potions...

            Melide in the distance..

Continuing on to Melide, avoiding A Revolta..

Mark waiting at the entrance to the town.

           At a local cafe..

We walked through the busy streets.

Our one star hotel, Hotel Xaneiro. We realised that we stayed here 10 years ago.

They mixed up our booking of a double room, so they gave us a 4 bedroom apartment instead.

With sitting room and wide-screen TV.

Melide is the pulpo capital (octopus) so we went to the Ezequiel Cafe with the hordes - locals and groups from the Camino Frances, which we joined today. This is the most busy section of all the caminos.

Long lines to order pulpo plates.

Our lunch - plates of razor clams, pulpo and our Pimintos of Padron (deep fried green peppers). Wine served in shallow bowls.

Pleasant afternoon sitting in the sun in our apartment reading. 8 euros for a simple 3 course meal in the hotel restaurant, tonight. Sunset is at 10 pm, so great weather for clothes drying and soaking up the sun.

Tomorrow we begin the next stage of our walking adventures...

Yes, you are wise to avoid the detour via A Revolta! The blue sky looks fabulous. Have a pleasant walk. W&N
