A tower, the remnant of a 12th century castle in La Clauze.

Very pleasant day's walking through small pretty hamlets, along paddocks with cows,  sheep (cheese) and some crops - corn and wheat.

Beautifully presented little hamlets along the way

Walking through pine forests with our French friends from Montpellier

We walked through misty pine forests. We had a few welcome stops at small cafes and in a large gite/ restaurant in Sauvage, which was a former hospital for pilgrims.

Tonight we are staying in St Albans in a family home with accommodation for travellers.
It has a population of 2,000. It has a Romanesque church and not the charm of some of the other towns in the region. It was originally a feudal fortress built in the early 12th century.
