SEPTEMBER 2022 : SPAIN : Gratallops - Falset : 12.5 kms : 6 hours

Our last day in El Priorat. Gratallops to Falset. 12kms

Our wine host was also our dinner and breakfast host. A young man with a lot of knowledge and expertise.

We set off about 10. Our notes said it would be a fairly moderate walk. Lovely views as we set off with views back to Gratallops.

As the heat and terrain became more steep and rocky, Mark found the rest of the day very challenging and needed lots of rests.
We descended to the mighty River Siurana, which, after such a summer, is a dry riverbed.
Then we ascended to Bellmunt. Everything was closed being a Monday.

A very prickly path

From Bellmunt, it was another 2 hours on a dirt track to Falset.

By this time, Mark was exhausted. A car passed as he was resting and offered him a lift into Falset, which he gladly accepted.

I met him at our hotel, Lotus Priorat.
Lovely decor and restaurant.

Balmy night at the terrace restaurant

What a fabulous week!
Planning another experience with this company next year!
Tomorrow to Zaragoza as tourists!
