Day 5 : Pauwa Bhanjyang to Hille Bhanjyang
Interesting noises during the night as the cow/yak herd grazed between our tents, bells tinkling as they went. Another rainy day but early views north of spectacular snow-capped peaks.
We seem to get a few minutes of views each morning before it fades into the ether
We climbed for 4 hours today in pouring rain, balancing umbrellas and walking poles. We continued along the ridge but heavy cloud and fog masked the views down the valleys. Several stone huts on the flat sections of the tracks denote grazing spots.
Ever onward
Towards our campsite we came across several snowy hillsides and swift-flowing waterfalls. It was slippery in the rain but we were carefully guarded by our guides to ensure no untoward accidents or injuries.
All I could console myself as I plodded along in our conga line was how fit I would be in another two weeks. In fact, despite one of our member having a tummy upset everyone moves together well and are enjoying good health and fitness.
Another delicious and filling lunch at our campsite. Unfortunately, despite several pockets of sunshine, we've not been able to get any washing dry over the last few days. Fortunately most of us have breathable merino gear which is very forgiving in the circumstances.
Relaxing afternoon as we aim to keep warm, aided by the excellent Nireka down jackets that Satish as provided. Dinner, including freshly made tuna mommos (like a dim sum) and roti. We've all commented about the amazing quality of our meals and the care of all the staff. We are so happy to see the boots we collected friends and colleagues being worn by all the staff, who usually trek in plastic sandals or ill-fitting sand shoes, regardless of conditions.
