Our destination was Dharamshala - the holding bay before our pass crossing.
An early
start on a freezing day with the weather closing in. We passed the
hydro-electric plant as we exited the town.
It was a
rocky path with little vegetation. We could see fields of planted potatoes in
the area below.
A large
marmot enjoying the sunshine, what there was of it.
Lots of
trekkers on the track and their accompanying guides and porters.
Impressive
glacier and marain (shell). Wouldn't
this make a Geography lesson come alive if you could experience it like this!
Snow
sets in.
We
arrived at Dharmashala about midday. There are several stone huts and tents at
this site. It is like a base camp for the Larkya La (Pass) - a holding bay for
about 100 trekkers. We claimed our tent and jumped into our sleeping bags to
keep warm, ready for tomorrow's adventure.
