DAY 11 : NEPAL : Shyala (3500m) Acclimatisation day

Today was an acclimatisation day as we climb higher. In four days' time we are crossing a pass that is 5160m, which requires several days' preparation to avoid altitude sickness.

Today we are in Shyala.

From our tent an amazing view of Mt Saula and Mt Khayan - the range that forms the Tibetan border.

Nir with our early cup of tea.

 Frosty morning.

Khem and staff in makeshift kitchen as the campsite shed was locked. Porridge, omelette and chapattis for breakfast all on two kerosene cookers.

Despite the fact that it is a rest and acclimatisation day Satish and Tunka took us on a walk up to a local glacier and morain. It was up a ridge on the way to the Pungyen Gonpa.

Stunning views after an exhausting climb.

Suddenly at lunch time the heavens opened and it began to snow and completely covered the campsite and small town nearby.
