JULY 2015 : SPAIN : El Camino del Norte : Day 22 : Muros de Nalon - Santa Marina (28 kms - 9 hours with stops and being lost)

Distance travelled : 509 kms
Distance to go : 300 kms

Another constant day of wooded paths, skirting small hamlets, minor road walking and some substantial climbs and descents in the woodlands. Initially there was some drizzly rain, but not as
humid as yesterday. In fact we had some cool breezes which made most of the day's walking pleasant. Lovely scenery and a few surprises.
We didn't find anywhere to stop until 11.40 but we were had a good lunch spot which gave us an added boost for the last few hours.

Leaving our Albergue (highly recommended) and walking up to Muros de Nalon.

                    Muros de Nalon

Then we were straight on to wooded paths with the fresh smell of eucalyptus in the rain.

A Mexican family with 3 kids, in two prams, who stayed in the teepee last night.

Out of the woods and into the town of El Pito and the first sight is the 19th century Quinta de
      Selgas palace and gardens.

The impressive church in El Pito with well established gum trees.

          Another traveller with pram!

                                             Colourful and fun!

           The most welcome Hotel Marino.

The hotel overlooked this pretty beach.

Every home had its own horreo.

Endearing couple out for a walk.

            Impressive motorways and railway viaduct.

Lush pasture land and picturesque farmhouses.

              Timeless farming practices.

Heaven. Salad, drinks with ice and Internet.

Refreshed we could face the final challenges.

Tonight we are in Santa Marina. The pension (30 euros a double room) is full so lots of activity
and foreign  languages. The hospiitero runs the only bar, so we can have dinner (8 euros) and
           breakfast here.
We will have an early night. We are sleeping so soundly, regardless of light and sounds.
