Our last day in Valencia. We had ticked all our boxes on tourist sites, so we returned to the cathedral square and were able to enter the cathedral without the long queues of previous days. Not a very imposing interior but some interesting artworks, Saint Vincent the Martyr’s full forearm and the holy grail - the cup purportedly Jesus used at the last supper. The building has suffered fire and pillage over the years, particularly during the Spanish Civil War (1936-9)
Still enjoying just wandering through alleyways and green spaces
The modern Colon Market. Lots of well-dressed ladies doing lunch and chatting. Upmarket delicatessens.
Long lunch in a shaded restaurant on Gran Vía de Marques del Turia.
Menú de Mediodía - €13.90
We spent our siesta watching the funeral procession of the Queen from Westminister Abbey to St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
Precision, pageantry and beautiful music.
A five minute taxi ride to the port to catch our overnight ferry to Mallorca.
