SEPTEMBER 2022 : SPAIN : Valencia

The plan today was to discover more of the delights of Valencia, out of the centre. We set off on the large green belt, Jardines del Turia, which borders the city. Many people out on their early morning run.

It wasn’t long until we caught a glimpse of the arts precinct. First, Palau de la Música.
But this did not prepare us for the spectacular sight further along the park.

Surrounded by aqua pools, the Palau de les Arts, Hemisferic and Museo de los Ciencias.

We wandered through the blue building, Museo de los Ciencias. The roof was shaped like a skeleton. Excellent viewing spaces, indoor gardens.

During the morning it began to rain quite heavily. We were prepared and joined the umbrella-wheelding crowds. Still pleasant temperature - 26o. Enjoyed more treats as we walked back to the centre.
Colour, cafes, baroque architecture and beautiful plazas.

As the rain pelted down we braved an outdoor cafe, carefully avoiding the drips.
Sardines in vinegar, snails in a tomato sauce, potato omelette and pimiento de padrón.

Walking to dinner

Drinks in an area called La Rotonda. An old slaughterhouse and fish market. Reminiscent of The Forum in Leichhardt.
