Today’s briefing
Our boat took us an hour west so that we could do a 4km Swim into the port of Agia Roumeli. An optional walk up the Samaria Gorge and then a 2km swim to finish.
Pleasant cruise along the coast
Our captain, Apollo, and his creative driving style
Our magnificent starting point
Apollo waits for instructions from our guides

A short stop at a beach along the way
We swam through caves

Our destination : Agia Roumeli with the gorge entrance to the right
Pre-ordered lunch at a local restaurant
We had 2 hours with choices of relaxing or walking part of the gorge. Seven of us decided to do the walk.
We set off through the village
This walk officially starts 11kms on the northern side of the National Park. There were streams of people walking against us as we did a little taster of the southern end.
Spectacular rock formations and views
Leaving Agia Roumeli. Crowds of tourists, who had finished the walk, waiting for the ferry as there is no road access from here.
Our next swim was supposed to be only a kilometre but turned into a 2km (never ending) marathon, through freezing waters with warmer, even hot, water below. Our end marker was this little stone church.
Home about 7pm
Drinks and presentations in Kay’s large room and balcony. Sían doing the honours.
