JULY 2019 : GREECE : DAY 7 : Marmara Beach swim - 3 kms

Another delicious breakfast on the balcony. The standouts today were the yoghurt and savoury pastries with feta and olives.

Choppy seas - unusual at this time of year - so we had a modified program. Pip and Sían careering up the rear.

Instead of swimming from our port and around the Peninsular westwards, we taken by boat around the point to swim in the more sheltered bay, where the small hamlet of Marmara is situated.

We hugged the shoreline until the winds picked up and made the seas too rough for swimming.

This decision was a godsend for me as I’d taken in quite a lot of salt water and was feeling a little queasy

The choice was then whether you stayed on the boat for the homeward journey or went into the small port of Marmara and  walked the easy 30 minutes back.

Salad lunch at one of the small cafes

The waves began crashing across the restaurant floors and tipping small boats

The swell made it difficult for swimmers to get in and out of the water

Such a scenic port

A small shrine

Attractive mosaic in one of the alleyways

Drinks with a view
