Luke had a special surprise for us this morning. We were up before dawn, given a prepared toasted sandwich for breakfast, and then marched down to the river in our swimming togs.
The only way across the river is by boat or if you have a large crowd, to swim across. We were surprised that the water temperature was warmer than the air.

On our return a swim across the Manning River to Barnett Station campsite
After lunch we drove about 20 minutes to Galvans Gorge.

Green ants. Their abdomens are edible and have a citrus flavour
A butcher bird searching for insects
Fires are left to burn throughout the dry season, unless property is threatened. It clears the spinifex and helps germinate seeds and regrowth.
Lamb shoulder and vegetables cooked in the camp oven for dinner.
