JUNE 2019 : KIMBERLEY, WA : GIBB RIVER ROAD TRIP : DAY 7 : Zebedee Springs - Emma Gorge - El Questro Gorge

Today was action-packed with three rocky walks in very different sections of El Questro station. We had another early start to avoid the crowds and heat to these popular destinations. Another breathtaking view of the Cockburn Ranges as we drive to Zebedee hot springs.

A short walk along a palmed path to the springs

The springs open at 7 and are closed at midday to the public so that the patrons of the exclusive resort have sole access in the afternoons

We found a section of a pool and wallowed in the warm water

A woolybutt blossom

Lots of colourful foliage and insects

Back in the bus and a short drive to Emma Gorge.

As we travel around the Cockburn Ranges I can see the inspiration for Australian painters, such as Fred Williams (1927-1982), and their landscapes of the Kimberley.

A good work out

Evidence of prehistoric marine history

Undefined path as the rushing torrents in the wet season change its course

Turquoise pool

Emma Gorge

A popular swimming spot

Fish

Warm currents under the ledges

Emma Gorge cafe

Lush vegetation

A snack from a fallen boab nut - tastes like dried apple

Lunch at the campsite and then Luke had us on another adventure, this time El Questro Gorge. We only walked the first section up a narrow, and very rocky, passageway.

Another refreshing swim for some at a small pool

And a slow and steady walk back

Tonight we had a choice for dinner. As it was the Rugby League State of Origin game (NSW vs QLD) most of the crew wanted to have a pub tea and watch the game.

Storm, Caro and I had a delicious, intimate meal at the resort restaurant.
