JUNE 2019 : KIMBERLEY, WA : DAY 9 : Kununurra - Bungle Bungles

A beautiful morning in downtown Lake Argyle. The only sound during the night was the flapping of flying foxes.

A bower bird attempts to steal a few peach slices

A butcher bird in a neighbouring tree

Before leaving the area, Luke took us back to Kununurra to experience some of the local industry. The first was to the Sandalwood factory and showroom.

A more popular choice was a boutique rum distillery, The Hoochery.

A short introduction before we could sample their various flavours

Outside Mark spotted this spectacularly coloured bee-catcher

Some crimson finches

and a kite

During our lunch stop at a roadhouse a small herd of brumbies arrived looking for shade

An hour after leaving the entrance to the Bungle Bungle National Park on an extremely bumpy, winding track we arrived at our campsite. Kimberley Wild is the only company with a permanent site in the Park.

Impressive kitchen and dining facilities, facing the Bungle Bungle Ranges

Our tents mounted on platforms

Hot showers and clean toilets

The camp faces east so we can appreciate the reflections on the banded rocks from the sunset

A warming fire as the temperatures decreased
