SEPTEMBER 2016 : IRELAND : Galway - Inishbofin

,

Today Maugie has organised a trip for us to Inisbofin, an island in Connemara.

This morning we thought we join in with the Galway tradition and have a dip in the ocean. It was even too choppy and wet for the locals.

So we joined Maugie's swimming friends for a coffee and scone at the Creamery Cafe.

Three of us caught the bus to Cleggan, and the others travelled by car. The scenery changed from green pasture to dramatic peaks.

The rain continued all day, here we are passing through Clifden.

The port and ferry.

Maugie and John on the ferry.

Sergio, Miriam, Mark, Claudia and me.

A very exciting ferry ride in the rain and swell with a glimpse of a sunset.

First sight of Inisbofin.

Cromwell's barracks on the shore.

We are staying at the hostel.

18 euros a night with good kitchen facilities.

Anouska, a Sri Lankan student, manages the hostel over the holiday season.

A quickly prepared meal and looking forward to exploring the island tomorrow,

M&M
