SEPTEMBER 2016 : IRELAND : Inishbofin

Our first day on this fabulous island.

We went for a walk on part of the red loop. A wonderful system of walks to fully appreciate the full extent of the island.

Stunning scenery.  We walked towards the east. This is Loch a Teampaill, a lake with lilypads.

St Colman's Abbey and graveyard.

Some of the relics in the graveyard. We think this may be an ancient font.

East End Bay

A curragh, a reed and tar boat used for traditional fishing. Perfectly balanced and light.

A bit of sunshine so Claudia and Miriam went in for a dip. 15 degrees and very envigorating apparently.

A sleeping sheep in the heather.

Such a beautiful place. I have so many more wonderful photos but on a walk this afternoon the camera was ruined in a drenching storm...I hope that we can recover them...
