SEPTEMBER 2016 : IRELAND : BEARA PENINSULAR : DAY 1 : Glengarriff - Adrigole

A modified Beara Walk - Smith-style.
Wet weather, boggy conditions, sore knees have encouraged us to modify our plans. We have our accommodation booked so we are going with the schedule and enjoying the destinations without the walking. Having said that, everything requires walking...all our B&Bs have been the furtherest out of village and up the steepest driveways. Murphy's Law. Such lovely countryside..iconic Irish scenes.

Views towards Esk Mountain this morning (338m). Heavy rain and thick mist. Not very conducive to walking.

The mist cleared and instant waterfalls appeared.

Walking through Glengarriff township..

Signposting for many walks in the area.

A cormorant..  on a rock by the swift flowing river in Glengarriff Woods.

We always need a bit of traffic calming - is that opposite to road rage?

Our basic B&B with a very attentive host, Margaret. Adrigole is a parish rather than a village with houses scattered 9 kms along the coast.

Our find of the day. Outside of our bedroom a 3-D picture of the Last Supper. It flashes every time you walk by it.

Behind us here in the B&B in Adrigole is Sugarloaf Mountain, 575m.

In front of the B&B is the picturesque Bantry Bay. Very choppy and windy today.

A walk along country roads to an isolated pub on the Wild Atlantic Way.
