JUNE 2023 : DAY 1 : SYDNEY to BARCELONA to MENORCA

Sydney-Singapore - Milan- Barcelona

We are off again on another adventure. This time through the Mediterranean- four rocky islands to explore. Last year, while walking the French Stevenson Trail, a French walker recommended Menorca (to the north of Mallorca) as a beautiful destination and off the usual tourist route. We found a flat walk (for Mark’s knees) called the Cami de Cavalls (The Way of the Horses) which circumnavigates the island. We have organised this part of the trip with the UK company, Macs Adventure, who have organised hotels, breakfasts, luggage and drop offs and pick ups along the route. The weather forecast is for unsettled and possibly wet weather. Cooler for Mark.

First a day in Barcelona before we set sail on the overnight ferry to Mahon, the capital city of Menorca.
A relaxing day in Barcelona, including a seafood platter at the famous market, Mercado de la Boqueria.

We walked down to the port with the hordes of tourists enjoying all the activity on the water.

Our ferry terminal was only a few minutes away.
Just a few hours wait.. in the bar next door … rehydrating..

It became a long, involved waiting game with all the passengers being transferred to another ferry line and full check-in being duplicated.

The only consolation was that Trasmed were blasting us with their publicity which came down to the only was you could be happy, particularly if you are a dog, was ‘to be Trasmed’ so let’s see!

Lots of space to spread out. Clean amenities.
We tried the Pullman seats initially but found some long lounges nearby which proved much more comfortable.
9 hour trip

MAY 2023 : CANBERRA / SYDNEY : visitors and festivities continue

A day trip to see Chris and Lucy and meet Leo.

Another successful performance- I love singing with this choir!

Dinner with old Curtin neighbours - memories of days as young parents in a connected vibrant community

Unexpected visitors. Nick and Jeanne are on a camping holiday from Brisbane. We welcomed them in for a night out of the cold. Jeanne shared a tent with me on a World Expeditions trip in Ladakh, Northern India in 2017.

A trip to Sydney to celebrate Pippa’s 9th birthday. A good excuse to stay in the Smith’s new home.
The girls are loving catching the school bus home. I met them with their scooters at the bus stop.

Special family celebrations at the Newport Arms.

A Mitchell (4) Classic Comment

Mitchell : You haven’t haven’t even asked me how good was South Africa?
Nonna : How good was South Africa?
Mitchell : Good.

Continuing the love - a sleepover and sushi dinner with our Canberra crew, while Indi (2) was in hospital having her tonsils and adenoids out.

A day trip from Camden from cousin, Cathy and partner, Ken, primarily to visit Mum. Just enough late Autumn sun for lunch in our courtyard.
