We trekked to the head of the nearby gorge, seeing the remnants of the the nomadic Chang pa herders.
Rudimentary stone cottages and pens used when grazing goats, sheep and yaks at various times of the year.
We were delighted by a few more exciting river experiences and wading against the strong flow of the river.
A chilly morning before the sun warms the valley
Jeanne and I up bright and early to greet the day
Our expert team pack up the tents
We thank and farewell our muleteers who complete their time with us today.
Ollie has really enjoyed the challenges with them.
The long day begins...
Assessing the best crossing point..
Wildflowers bordering the path
Remnants of nomadic Chang pa herder camps used for grazing yaks, goats and sheep
The march continues..
A welcome rest
Winding our way along the river...unexpected wildflowers
Lunch in one of the only treed sections
Nawang encourages us along
Native deer
Coming to the end of the valley - a few more mounds and to contend with
Crossing into the Dat settlement - used by the nomadic herders in the winter.
Dat campsite
An obstacle course to the toilet tent...orienteering certificate required!
Much relief today at reaching our destination!
Some veered off the path and had to forge a boggy mire, others arrived by mule but we are all together after an eventful journey!
