Brindabella Bushwalking Club - Wednesday walk
Mt Tennent, Namadgi National Park
14kms : 5 hours : 832m
The last few days have seen coldest temperatures for June, so I was feeling rather pessimistic about today’s walk and Mt Tennent’s notorious grandient.
Nothing could have been further from the truth fabulously sunny day (11oC) and a mildly challenging walk on a good track with spectacular scenery.
Artist’s impression of a Canberra landmark - tallest mountain in the ACT.
The road to Mt Tennent
We began the walk at the Namadgi Visitors’ Centre
Wallabies at the base of Mt Tennent
Good clear path
Morning break with Mt Tennent in the background
Rocky outcrops
Views towards Canberra
Regrouping towards the top
Last challenging push to the top
Fire tower at the top
Spectacular views towards the Brindabellas and Snowy Mountains - snow on the peaks in the far distance.
Sunny walk all the way down
